Kate Burnett MA, is a theatre designer and educator, Honorary Secretary to the Society of British Theatre Designers and Reader in Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent University.

She has designed for regional, national and touring companies including: the Library Theatre, Manchester; National Youth Music Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse, National Theatre Education Department, Birmingham Rep, Sheffield Crucible Studio, Liverpool Everyman, Leicester Haymarket, the Lyric, Hammersmith and the original Forbidden Planet for the London Bubble. She has won both the Manchester Evening News and Time Out Design Awards.

Her work also includes large scale schools and community performance projects for the Halle, Opera North, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Arts Education Festival and Glyndebourne Education Department, also projects for the Cornerhouse, Manchester and Whitechapel Gallery, London.

Kate is project director and curator for the Collaborators UK national exhibition and catalogue. She has co-organised three previous exhibitions for the SBTD with Peter Ruthven Hall. 2D>3D which won the Golden Triga, and two Gold medals at PQ 2003 and toured to four UK galleries; MakeSpace!, which won the Gold Medal at PQ1995 and toured to six UK galleries; also Time+Space at the Royal College of Art, PQ1999 and the Theatre Museum in London.
