Mechanical Theatre Performance is an interactive street theatre piece.
With the kinetic structures made by students of design and scenic arts
as the central characters, the story of Aristophanes’ The Birds is
transformed into a comical and anarchic event. The animated mobile
structures, made from found objects, wheels and industrial debris are
manoeuvred by the performer/operators, amongst the audience, who become
participants within the performance. Acoustic sound, visual ingenuity
and chance happenings are integral to the piece which is intended to
last approximately 25 minutes
It is designed to be presented in a public open air or large hall setting, with natural daylight, amongst a non seated audience.
